Full read-write Claude connector for Discord
Let Claude post, reply, and manage threads in Discord
Stop switching apps to keep a busy server moving. Claude reads the channel, posts in the right place, replies inside the thread, reacts or pins to flag what matters, and sends only once you approve.
Discord is a real-time chat platform built around servers and channels, used by communities, support teams, and companies to talk. People want Claude to do more than read messages: to post in the right channel, manage threads, and respond on their behalf.
What is a Discord MCP server?
A Discord MCP server is a small hosted service that exposes Discord's data and actions to Claude over the Model Context Protocol, so Claude can draft, send, and triage messages inside your own account. We build it as a custom connector with separate read and write tools, and destructive actions stay gated behind your approval.
What can Discord's current connector do today?
An official Discord connector exists, but it ships a fixed, standard set of tools: post and reply, react, edit, and read history. A custom Discord connector adds the rest of what your workflow needs, scoped write actions through a bot token for thread create and archive, role assignment, pinning, and message search, all with the human-in-the-loop controls the generic tool set leaves out.
What does full read-write Discord access unlock?
Full read-write Discord access lets Claude post a message in the right channel, reply inside a thread, react to or pin a message, and manage roles or threads once you approve. The triage and responses that used to mean switching apps happen where the conversation already lives.
- Post a message to a specific channel after you approve it
- Reply inside an existing thread, keeping the discussion in context
- Start or archive a thread to organize a busy channel
- Add a reaction or pin a message to flag it for the team
- Assign or remove a role when someone is onboarded
- Find messages matching a query and propose batched responses
Can Claude post a message in a Discord channel?
Yes. Claude can post a message to a specific channel through a scoped bot token, with the target shown before anything goes out. Posting is a gated write action, so Claude prepares the message and you confirm it. The bot reaches only the channels its role already allows.
Can Claude reply inside a Discord thread?
Claude can reply inside an existing thread to keep the discussion in context, and start or archive threads to organize a busy channel. It can also add a reaction or pin a message to flag it for the team. Outbound and destructive actions wait for your approval before they run.
Will Claude get more access than the Discord bot allows?
No. The connector acts through a Discord bot token tied to a specific role, so it inherits only the permissions and channel access that role holds in your server. Claude never reaches further than the bot already can, and you can narrow the role or revoke the token at any time.
How a Discord connector works
We build a small MCP server that authenticates to Discord with a scoped bot token holding only the permissions and channel access the work needs. Read tools (search, read channel) and write tools (post, react, manage threads) are separated, and outbound or destructive actions like sending a message require your confirmation. The bot never has more access than its role in your server already grants.
