Full read-write Claude connector for Recharge
Let Claude manage subscriptions and billing in Recharge
Stop clicking through the merchant portal to pause, swap, and reschedule plans. Claude looks up the subscriber, makes the edit where the subscription already lives, and leaves high-impact changes like cancellation for your approval.
Recharge is the subscription and recurring-billing platform that powers subscribe-and-save and membership stores on Shopify and other carts. Teams want Claude to do more than read subscriber data: to manage subscriptions, swap products, and adjust billing on their behalf.
What is a Recharge MCP server?
A Recharge MCP server is a small hosted service that exposes Recharge's data and actions to Claude over the Model Context Protocol, so Claude can orders, products, and customers inside your own account. We build it as a custom connector with separate read and write tools, and destructive actions stay gated behind your approval.
What can Recharge's current connector do today?
Today, Recharge has no first-party Claude connector, so out of the box Claude cannot read or write subscription data at all. Any access goes through Recharge's API. A custom connector can expose scoped read tools and gated write actions like editing subscriptions, updating next charge dates, and managing discounts, all keyed to your own API permissions.
What does full read-write Recharge access unlock?
Full read-write Recharge access lets Claude act on subscriptions where they live: pause or reactivate a plan, swap the product on a subscription, change quantity or next charge date, apply a retention discount, and update a customer's payment or address. The cancellation triage that meant clicking through the merchant portal happens in one approved step.
- Pause, skip, or reactivate a subscription for a specific customer
- Swap the product or variant on an active subscription
- Change the quantity or shift the next charge date
- Apply a retention discount code to a subscription
- Update a subscriber's shipping address or billing details
- Cancel a subscription with a reason once you approve it
Can Claude pause or reactivate a subscription in Recharge?
Yes. With a full read-write Recharge connector, Claude can pause, skip, or reactivate a subscription for a specific customer once it looks up their record. It works through a scoped API token, so it can only touch the subscriptions and actions that token already permits, nothing beyond that.
Can Claude swap products or change the next charge date in Recharge?
Yes. Claude can swap the product or variant on an active subscription, change the quantity, shift the next charge date, and apply a retention discount code. These are write tools exposed alongside read lookups, so the billing edits run in one approved step instead of a manual portal click-through.
Can Claude cancel a Recharge subscription on its own?
No. Cancellation is a separate, gated action. Claude can pull up the subscription and prepare the cancellation with a reason, but it is only submitted after you approve it. You decide which billing changes run freely and which always pause for a confirmation step.
How a Recharge connector works
We build a small MCP server that authenticates to Recharge with a scoped API token granting only the permissions the work needs. Read tools (look up customers, subscriptions, charges) are separated from write tools (edit subscription, apply discount, cancel), and destructive actions like cancel require your confirmation. Claude never has more access than the API token itself, and we can IP-allowlist the server so calls only originate from a known address.
