Full read-write Claude connector for Intercom
Let Claude draft replies, tag, and clear the queue in Intercom
Stop tab-switching to triage and answer support. Claude reads the conversation, drafts a reply in place, tags and assigns it to the right teammate, and sends only once you approve, all where the conversation already lives.
Intercom is a customer messaging and help desk platform where support teams run conversations, tickets, and help content. People want Claude to do more than read conversations: to draft and send replies, manage tickets, tag and assign, and keep articles current.
What is an Intercom MCP server?
A Intercom MCP server is a small hosted service that exposes Intercom's data and actions to Claude over the Model Context Protocol, so Claude can tickets and customer conversations inside your own account. We build it as a custom connector with separate read and write tools, and destructive actions stay gated behind your approval.
What can Intercom's current connector do today?
Intercom publishes an official native connector for Claude, and it is read-focused. Claude can search and read conversations, contacts, and companies, and manage help center articles, but it cannot reply inside a conversation, change ticket state, assign, or tag. A custom connector keeps that read coverage and adds the missing write actions with scoped, human-in-the-loop controls.
What does full read-write Intercom access unlock?
Full read-write Intercom access lets Claude draft a reply inside the live conversation, apply tags, assign to the right teammate, snooze or close a ticket, and update a help center article, all once you approve. The triage and answering that meant tab-switching now happen where the conversation already lives.
- Draft a reply inside an existing conversation, preserving the customer and context
- Apply or remove tags to triage an inbox
- Assign a conversation to a teammate or team
- Snooze, reopen, or close a ticket as you clear the queue
- Update or create a help center article from a resolved thread
- Send a drafted reply after you approve it
Can Claude reply to Intercom conversations, not just read them?
Yes. The official native Intercom connector is read-focused and cannot reply, so a custom connector adds the reply write tool. Claude composes the response inside the existing conversation with the customer and full history intact. Sending stays a separate, gated action that runs only after you approve the message.
Can Claude triage and assign tickets in Intercom?
Claude can triage your Intercom inbox by applying or removing tags, assigning a conversation to the right teammate or team, and snoozing, reopening, or closing tickets as you clear the queue. These write actions run with scoped, human-in-the-loop controls, so you decide what runs automatically.
Can Claude update help center articles in Intercom?
Yes. From a resolved thread, Claude can update or create an Intercom help center article so the next customer finds the answer first. The connector authenticates as your account through OAuth and never gets more access to conversations, tickets, or articles than your own Intercom login already has.
How an Intercom connector works
We build a small MCP server that authenticates to Intercom with OAuth and the narrowest scopes the work needs. Read tools (search, read conversation) and write tools (reply, tag, assign, close, edit article) are separated, and outbound or destructive actions like sending a reply or closing a ticket require your confirmation. Claude only ever has the access your own Intercom account already has.
